Welcome to Cariad Holistic Therapies
My name is Adele Elliott, and I am a fully qualified reflexologist based in Treorchy, a small village in the heart of the Rhondda Valleys. I have always had a passion for holistic therapies. After 20 years in the corporate world and raising two children I decided it was time for me to follow my passion in holistic therapies.
While working full time in an office-based job, I enrolled myself in college 2 evenings a week for 1 year studying Reflexology, Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology. Studying again at 43 wasn’t without its challenges but my passion for holistic therapies helped me through it. I trained at Coleg y Cymoedd and obtained a level 3 diploma in June 2019.
I went on to study Fertility Reflexology, Facial Reflexology, Holistic Facial and Reiki. I continue to develop my professional knowledge and skills by regularly exchanging therapies with other practitioners and meeting regularly with a group of local reflexologists, as well as attending additional courses.
I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists. The UK's professional body of reflexology.
As a complementary therapists I use Neal’s Yard Remedies award-winning natural and organic products in my treatment room and I am also a NYR consultant.

Reflexology
Reflexology is a natural therapy founded on the belief that your feet and hands are a reflection of the systems in your body - where specific areas correspond to organs, glands and structure. By applying gentle pressure to areas of the feet, face or hands a Reflexologist can help the body restore its own healthy balance. Evidence has been found for a form of foot and hand therapy being practised in China and Egypt more than four thousand years ago.
Reflexology can induce a deep state of relaxation, which improves the effectiveness of the treatment. Relaxing helps relieve tension and aids circulation, increasing the flow of nutrients, oxygen and energy to all parts of the body, and helping with the removal of toxins.
Reflexology for fertility
Reflexology for fertility can be used to boost your natural fertility and holistically support you with conception. including In vitro fertilisation (IVF), Intrauterine insemination (IUI), Clomiphene citrate (Clomid) and Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
Areas on your feet, face or hands are linked to specific parts of your body. By applying pressure to specific reproductive reflex areas, Reflexology can help men and women bring hormonal balance, improve their libido, relieve anxiety and stress, and ultimately boost their fertility. The aim of Fertility Reflexology for women is not only to help you relax and reduce stress but also to regulate your periods and ovulation in order to maximise your chances of conceiving.
Usui Reiki
Usui reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. Created by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. This wonderful treatment promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch.
Balance
Reflexology is a wonderful way of maintaining your body's healthy balance and general wellbeing, reducing the stress and tensions that come with busy lifestyles and giving us a space to reflect on the mind as well as the body.
Reflexology aims to treat the individual as a whole, creating a state of harmony in both body and mind. It has the benefit of also being a deeply relaxing therapy, and during periods of relaxation the body takes the opportunity to heal, restore and energise itself.
Crystal Reflexology
Crystal reflexology combines the wonders of reflexology and the healing powers of crystals. It is believed that crystals act as conduits for healing, allowing positive healing energy to flow into the body while negative energy flows out. Crystal have their own unique vibrational energy. The history of crystals and healing dates back several millennia and is thought to begin as early as 4000 BCE.
During a treatment crystals are placed around your body and under the treatment couch to create a crystal pyramid. Specific crystals will then be used within your treatment focusing on the seven main chakras on your feet: Crown (Snowy Quartz), Third Eye (Amethyst), Throat (Blue Lace Agate), Heart (Rose Quartz), Solar Plexus (Citrine), Sacral (Carnelian), Base (Hematite). Helping promote wellbeing and harmony in the body, emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.
Holistic facial
A holistic facial is a wonderfully relaxing treatment that helps improve the condition and appearance of your skin, using relaxing facial massage techniques used to increase circulation and improve skin tone, leaving your face glowing. All products are personally selected for your skin type using Neal’s Yard award winning Remedies that are natural and organic.
The treatment will also include your choice of reiki or hand reflexology for total relaxation.

Some frequently asked questions...
How many reflexology treatments will I need?
Everyone is different and the response to Reflexology can be immediate or sometimes take longer than one appointment, but often benefits can be seen after 4-5 sessions. Regular weekly treatments are best for the body to properly beginning the self-healing process, and following an initial consultation I will suggest the number of Reflexology sessions I think we should undertake.
What happens in a reflexology treatment?
Reflexology is performed entirely on the feet, face or hands, so the most you’ll have to do is take off your socks and roll up your trousers! During the treatment the client lies on their back on a massage bed or reclining chair, supported by pillows and covered with a soft blanket (if required) to keep them warm.
And don’t worry - reflexology doesn't tickle! Many clients come to me with ticklish feet or worried about their feet being touched, but find they can relax and enjoy the benefits of Reflexology.
Does reflexology hurt?
You might find some areas feel sensitive to the touch, but Reflexology does not involve hard pressing in the way something like a sports massage might. As a therapist I will be aware of the status of your feet, noticing how they feel, the temperature and colour. All these things play a part in understanding which areas of your body - as reflected through your feet - require a bit more care and attention.
Can you diagnose my health problems?
Reflexologists cannot claim to diagnose or cure, Reflexology can help ease symptoms, during a treatment we get an understanding as to which parts of the body are working well and which are not. Sometimes Reflexology will highlight a specific area which is struggling or working hard to maintain your wellbeing; if a particular reflex point shows this kind of reaction, I will make notes and discuss it with you at the end of the session.
What will I feel like after a reflexology treatment?
Clients should feel relaxed, sleep well, and have an improved sense of well-being. Occasionally people can experience a ‘healing reaction’ as the body responds to the treatment; this can include tiredness, headaches, or going to the toilet more often. It is also possible that some symptoms may get slightly worse for a short while, but all these normal reactions should pass in 24-48 hours and are part of the healing process. I recommend that you drink plenty of water, avoid stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol, and try to rest after a treatment to help your body flush out toxins and waste products to get the best from the treatment.

Relaxing and rebalancing treatment to diagnose imbalances within the body through pressure points on the feet or hands, and release blockages to restore the flow within the body.
Facial Reflexology – 30 min £35 / 60 min £50

Cancellation Policy
I understand that emergencies and illnesses occur, and you may need to cancel your appointment. I would appreciate 48 hours’ notice so that I am able to offer the appointment time to another client. A 100% cancellation fee would be charged if you do not cancel your appointment in a reasonable time.
